Many people are extremely stressed when taking ACLS for the first time. Don't panic, with preparation ahead of time, the majority of students successfully complete the program. We've put together this webpage with links to various tools and resources.
Step One Register at the Heart and Stroke Foundation website using the email you have provided us.* https://resuscitation.heartandstroke.ca/user/register *If you have a current Heart and Stroke ID (i.e. you have a current BLS certificate), you don't need to re-register.
Step Two Review all relevant material and videos by visiting the ACLS Student Website. Your learning session will prove to be more interesting and satisfying if you read through your 2015 Provider Manual, watch the videos and be familiar with ACLS Core Rhythms. This gives us more time to run through Megacode scenarios and better prepare you .
Step Three Before coming to your course, you must visit the ACLS Student Website and complete the ACLS Self-Assessment Test with a score of 70% Please complete this test and bring the test results to your course.
On the Course Date We will cover BLS and will be evaluating you throughout the day on your CPR skills. We will review, re-review and re-review the core rhythms and algorithms. You will have lots of hands on time practicing the skills in a team setting.
To be successful, you must be able to score 84% on the multiple choice test and be able to successfully run a 10 minute mega-code as a team leader.
